Please do not become emotional and give way to too much of feelings, let us do this activity with the intention of contributing something to the world of films and especially to the world of tamil movies.
I have great regards of Mr. Kamal Sir, he is immaculately talented, definetely a genius, his intelligence should be ranking among the top 2 % of the world population.
Having said that, I would like to also add that there seems to be a small syndrome of being conscious of the applause that he expects from the audience, what i mean is for all performing artists the tonic is always the applause and the appreciation one gets from the audience, but if the performer starts becoming consciuos of the same, then it back fires, in kamals' own words, the trance of the person who is watching the movie should not be disturbed, the same way the trance of the performer gets disturbed if he starts expecting the applause. In this movie, which has got a very deep and nicely woven plot as the crux of the story, but such a story needs a very extraordinary screenplay, the screen play in this movie is found wanting for the simple reason that it leaves many a movie watcher confused, in a way a director is like a teacher, you can confuse the student but only to bring in that extra clarity, you cannot leave the student in the lurch the same way Kamal with his screen play has left many an audience in the lurch.
The same way, the movie would have got well told, if the distraction of looking for kamal with every character that comes to the screen could be avoided, for this, my preference would be that he should have done the 12th century character, the hero, the naidu, poovaragan and probably one more either the fletcher or the patti. and he should have left the rest for some other artists, and he could have gone with the same title, may be he could have taken 10 departments apart from acting for maintaining the namesake.
A fast paced screen play will demand a less theoretical story crux like run lola run and such films, if it needs a story this heavy then, the screen play should have to have got slowed down, and this pace should have set in only at the last. An alternative screen play is like the one which we saw in michael madana kama rajan, in which almost beyond interval we had the introductions and then the story unfolded, that was a much better dialogue and screenplay than this. May be even for this he should have left the dialogue and screenplay to mouli and crazy mohan.
Definitely the efforts are well appreciated.

Some more points, many parts of the movie were reminding many of his older movies, he is typecasting himself, poovarahan reminded the hero of anbe sivam, even those villains, patti the patti at michael, naidu reminded of indran chandran, the narahari of enakkul oruvan why should he show who he is to the people let him be the character of the film
Whats Surprising reading this comment is making me think if the author of this post has understood the storyline and essence. What most people get sucked into watching Dasavatharam is Kamal's glaring presence in 10 different roles.
With an aritistic view point and from the perspective of the audience, we always knew that Kamal was going to don 10 roles, why not complain then than now?
if one has to understand this movie, I wud assume that this is a way a Fantasy Movie, one which takes parlance from the original "Dasavatharam" of depicting Vishnu's force & avatars. For the modern Child in our society, The Avatars of Vishnu can be easily depicted by showing this film and the central role is pivotal and has to be done by only one character and in this movie it became Kamal.So I naturally disagree with the author that Kamal could have restricted with 5 or 6 roles.
Dasavatharam would be appreciated in next decade or so when audience wud be matured and would understand such story line, likewise his Guna, Anbe Sivam, Alavandan. Until then, we would keep seeing such blogs, UNFORTUNATELY!!!
If Vishnu's 10 avatarams' has to be shown, then it need not necessarily be the same person to dawn all the 10! For your understanding, the story line is based on a fundamental premises, as to "if god exists, then why tsunami, if god has to stop one virus from spreading by creating a tsunami, that is not an intelligent god, such a god need not exist"- this is explained through the dialogue in the last scene, "I did not say god does not exist, I am only saying if he is it will be good" meaning, if he is then he will not have created this much misery" earlier in the same scene, when there was a justification of tsunami by saying that if it would not have come a huge human race would have got wiped out, and now only few hundreds, for this kamal counter argues, that expecting this, did god placed the tectonic plates so..... what an intelligent design said sacastically, so.
Even though we knew that kamal is going to come in 10 roles, it is okay if he could have did all those with the expected perfection, but, unfortunately with an artistic perception, he distracted us, but so doing from the trance.
Yes, we will have one more opportunity to appreciate dasavatharam, after it is made perfected and released again in the next decade, ( I heard he is planning that)
